It’s a really lovely night, friendly and warm. There is a 20 minute interval, but quite a few people come on their own with a book or something, so if you fancy doing that, you won’t be the only one.

If you want to come early and grab some food, The Lakeview diner (est 1932) is a few steps away, with the best shakes (I love banana-vanilla) and sweet potato fries in Toronto. Also, The Garrison has tacos. TACOS.

Free entry. You’ll need to get there early to get a good seat (latecomers have to stand at the back).

VIDEO: Customs Comedian and Transatlantic Puss

7 May

Quick reminder that our next show is Tuesday June 30th at The Garrison.

Today’s videos are two stories that I re-tell all the time to friends who couldn’t make the show.

First up, comedian Rick Jones tells my favourite Customs story OF ALL TIME:

You can find out about Rick’s upcoming shows, hire him to MC, do stand up, and/or write your best man’s speech, and more at www.rickjonescomedy.com

Secondly, Wayne Hendry tells us the perils of trying to transport a cat on a several hours-long plane journey (hint: choose your pants carefully).

Our next show is Tues June 30th at the Garrison. If you want details sent to you in advance – and a short reminder on the day of the show (or the day before), then sign up to our (very infrequent) email list here: yym.ca/tstlto1

See you then!

VIDEO: Kevin Breathnac – The Treasure (aka our most intense story yet…)

21 Apr

When this story was told, it led to one of my favourite moments in the HISTORY of True Stories Told Live. In fact, I was so moved that I wrote an entire blog about it – in which I also detail the story-coaching process. You can read it, here:  Why You Should Ask Strangers Personal Questions You can watch the video of his (incredible) story on the page that links to, or here:

Our next show is Tuesday June 30th @ The Garrison. More details here – to get a notification a week before and then again a day before, sign up to our (very infrequent) email list here: http://yym.ca/tstlo1

Next show – Tues 28th April @ The Garrison (free entry)

Tamara Lindeman (of The Weather Station – one song)
Sarah Niedoba
Naseem Hrab
Anna Willats has been invited to tell a story by special request due to her involvement with Groundswell Community Justice Trust Fund. We’ll have a collection for Groundswell after her story. Because charities are important – but wouldn’t it be better if we didn’t need them in the first place?
